A Baking Session with Little Sky Stone & Friends

Posted on

Fall might just be the best season of the year, hands down. Crisp fall air, frost on the ground, holiday scents and cozy accessories come into play when the leaves start to change. While the temperatures are dropping, we can't help but stay warm inside, whether it's from turning the heat up, or baking your favorite fall dishes. We teamed up with influencer Valerie Cammack and her friends Savannah Slaton and Anna Bloch to bring you the perfect autumn dessert. Here's how they styled their Little Sky Stone rings while making delicious apple crisp!

This recipe works like a charm and is so simple. This is all that you need:

Ingredients:

Crumb topping:

  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1/2 cup of old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • Dash of salt
  • 1/3 cup of unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Apple filling:

  • 3-4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons of butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoon of flour
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons of milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • Dash of salt

First, Preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit.

For the topping:
In a medium size bowl, combine the crumb topping ingredients with a fork or pastry blender until it resembles small crumbs. Then, refrigerate while you prepare the apple filling.
For the apple filling:
First, peel your apples and slice them. In a small bowl, combine melted butter and flour until it is well blended. Add lemon juice, milk and vanilla and stir well. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Pour butter mixture over apples and toss to coat. Pour apple mixture into an 8x8-inch baking dish and spread into an even layer. Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over the apples.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and the top is set.
Remove from oven and allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. For a dose of extra indulgence, serve with vanilla bean ice cream and caramel sauce!
Happy baking and enjoy!
